CRITIQUE FROM MENTORS:

  • Add throw blanket on top of comforter sim for shot 6

  • Material of mattress with sheet needs update in Shot 6, light wrinkles in texturing etc. Less soap boar, less stick of butter.

  • Brighten up backgrounds of Shot 3 and 5A to match lightness of the room

  • John Montefusco from Framestore visited our class during the week. He suggested shot 2 have more evident hair fuzz as it looks too procedural without it.

  • Lighting and comp critique

    • Shot 1 too dark

    • Shot 3 and 5 shadows too black

TO DO:

  • FX point deform throw on top of simulated comforter

  • Help out with any materials, lighting, and rendering

This is what we presented last week

This week I mainly worked on adding the throw blanket to the comforter FX

It was a simple point deform, I messed around with it's starting position so it lined up the most with shot 7 subtle settling animation done by Nidhi Jallepally.

Here it is with materials, lit and rendered by Emily Marcelis and Ella Lawlor.

Here is shot 1 lit and rendered by same artists above

Our amazing compositor Zachary Malich did a great job added some Depth of Field and really making this shot look macro.

Here is shot 5A and B lit and rendered by same artists above. They used to be way more wrinkly and cool but the alembics were getting too heavy for Maya to handle all those polygons so we had to use a lower poly version with less wrinkles. But nobody really minds besides me. The more smooth wrinkles play better into luxury than heavily wrinkled sheets anyways.
