Week 9
Weaving Effect - Technical Breakdown The weaving pattern was created using two grid systems: vertical threads (blue) and horizontal threads (red), following a traditional over-under weave structure. Visibility & Pattern Control: An attribute wrangle controlled weave visibility based on color values. When Cd.r < 0.9, the geometry displayed the first weave pattern (off-camera layer). When Cd.r > 0.9, it switched to the second pattern (on-camera layer). This binary threshold cr

CRITIQUE FROM MENTORS: Add throw blanket on top of comforter sim for shot 6 Material of mattress with sheet needs update in Shot 6, light wrinkles in texturing etc. Less soap boar, less stick of butter. Brighten up backgrounds of Shot 3 and 5A to match lightness of the room John Montefusco from Framestore visited our class during the week. He suggested shot 2 have more evident hair fuzz as it looks too procedural without it. Lighting and comp critique Shot 1 too dark Shot 3 a

Week 7
Weaving Week We chose Shot 1, our weaving/threading shot as our sub hero shot so need to put some extra attention on it. Last week I added the thin to thick fix by request of the lighting artists who said it would be easier if the weaving started thin lines and the when it actually arrived at the pattern it would be the thicker cross section. In figuring that out, I didn't notice the hair no longer followed the weave pattern perfectly and was instead jittering with all the mo

Week 1
SCAD x Habor x ETC This week we got into our teams of 5 and decided on a pitch to present next week The theme was high tech/high end and needs to incorporate some use of AI in the process. We chose to do a luxury bedding commercial to incorporate cloth fx using Houdini vellum and light hair generation for close up shots of the sheets. Here is our pitch animatic: Team: I will be taking care of Vellum cloth FX, threading FX shot, and hair generation Zachary Malich Compositing
